Hong Kong Inter-School Chess Championships 2010

The 2010 Hong Kong Inter-School Chess Championships, organised by the Hong Kong Chess Federation and Hong Kong Juniors Chess Club, sponsored by Island School, will take place on February 27 & 28, 2010.
  Type of tournament
* There will be 2 championships, one for primary schools and one for secondary schools.
*

All members of a school team shall be students of that school.

* There will be 7 rounds in each competition, which is a team event, with 4 boards per match. The competition adopts the Swiss System to determine the opponents in each successive round.
*

Each team may only consists of 4 players.

* A school may enter any number of team but it is only eligible for a maximum of one team prize and two board prizes on any board order.
* The time limits per game will be 20 minutes plus 3 seconds each move for each player in the primary section; and 50 minutes plus 3 seconds each move for each player in the secondary section.
* Each player in the secondary section shall keep the score of his or her games, using algebraic notation, on official score book which will be provided. (Further information about game scoring can be provided by the Tournament Director on request.)

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, February 27 & 28, 2010 (Secondary Section)
  Sunday, February 28, 2010 (Primary Section)
Time: From 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Venue: Hall, Island School, 20 Borrett Road, Mid Levels Hong Kong
Prizes: Trophies for the first, second and third teams plus a medal each for the top 3 players playing on each board (board 1 to board 4) in each championship. The number of board prizes will be increased to 6 if there are more than 20 entries in that championship.
Entry fee: $400 per team for payment received on or before Feb 10, 2010; $800 per team for late entry.
Registration: Registration on-line will be available from Jan 23, 2010 at www.hkjuniorchess.org Registration must be made on-line, completed by naming the players in order of their strength with the strongest nominated on top together with player's surname, given name and year of birth. This playing order must be followed throughout the tournament.
Payment: After registration on-line, please send in the entry fee by a crossed cheque made payable to "Hong Kong Juniors Chess Club" together with a print out of the entry record to the Tournament Director at 17A, 111 Mount Butler Road, Jardineˇ¦s Lookout, Hong Kong. As we need to make accommodation for the event, entry received after Feb 12, will not be accepted.
